Shout out to my fellow artists + entrepreneurial badasses! What we do is not easy. The things we go through to make our dreams to come true, and to make other people happy is immeasurable, and it's torture, but it's so damn worth it.
The first time I ever picked up a point and shoot camera, I was 15 years old. I've clearly grown a lot in my skill since then, but I don't know what kind of person I'd be if I weren't a photographer.
I wouldn't notice the small, intimate moments. I wouldn't be inspired by the way the sunlight paints a person's hair, or the way leaves shiver in the wind.
I sure as hell wouldn't dig this deep, and work this hard to deliver mediocrity, either. This is what my nights consist of. Reading, learning, writing, creating, and planning. After being gone 12 hours a day during my day job, at night, when the house is quiet, you'll find me on my office floor cultivating new ideas, and new ways to share my passion and good quality products with you.
I have notebooks, big ass notebooks FULL of notes, things I've learned, and things I want to learn, in order to be a better photographer, a better business woman, and just a better person all around.
Every time I click that button and hear the shutter, I get a high. I become inspired. I immediately feel the world slow down around me, and everything becomes quiet. It's just me and whatever it is I'm photographing. When I'm shooting, it's the only time where I become truly vulnerable. During that time, I'm alone and there's no one there to judge me, or what I do, or how I do it, which is the beautiful part about being an artist.
That's what makes us artists.
The second we post our work, or turn it into something tangible, that's when you open yourself up and allow the world to see the all the dusty corners of your soul.
So, to those of you who share your passions with the world, THANK YOU, because I know you don't hear that nearly enough.
