Their original guest count was 437. Mmhmm, you read that right. Jesse and Lindsey's wedding day would have by far, been the largest wedding I've ever shot, but because of COVID, they had to make some pretty significant changes to their day. They dropped their guest list to around 150, and had to get a permit from the county to even hold their wedding, and everyone who attended had to sign a waiver before they could witness the ceremony. Not really how most people plan for their wedding day to play out, but they made it work, and it was beautiful!
I've heard many of my couples say, that even though the pandemic screwed with their original plans, that they felt a sense of relief in some areas of the planning process. There was no longer any pressure to "perform" in a way, and they felt as though they could just be present during their wedding celebration. How profound is that?
Because of social distancing, there was no dancing allowed except for the traditional dances, and even though two of Lindsey's best friends couldn't make it because of travel restrictions, they recorded their speeches to have played during the reception to toast to the newlyweds.
COVID has forced us all to slow down and focus on what's important, and that goes for weddings, too. I tell people all the time, "plan the marriage, not the wedding." The details of Jesse and Lindsey's day were absolutely beautiful, but the work they've put into building a solid foundation for their marriage surpasses all.
